Charles Wright Vinaigrette

Post by Aspasa »

Somewhere before the recent site update I'd seen this silvermark below for Charles Wright London - 1776
(stamps on inside top.)

Image

The mark below looks like the CW mark but the Anchor. Birmingham?
And the Style of the Date Letter Y - what year exactly pls.?
(Stamp on inside bottom)

Image

Why stamps on top and bottom? Thanks..

Could the amber scent block be original?

Image

If it helps for the date the amber cover looks like so...

Thanks for the help and site update.

Your pictures are none too clear but I would suggest that CW is actually GW - Gervase Wheeler - and that the Y is actually the Birmingham date letter L (in old English / gothic style) for 1834.

Thanks Phil for the info.. Yup. GW - Gervase Wheeler for sure.
Maybe someone could rename the OP Title?
Thanks.
