Long time lurker, first post.
I thank you in advance for your help. I purchased these 3 silverplated chambersticks at auction. The all appear to be the same except 2 are marked as Matthew Boulton (double sun) and one has a different mark. Looks to me like a balance or scale. Do you recognize it?
Also on the bowl of each of these, there is an etched symbol of what appears to be a griffin and one of an eagle. What do these markings represent?
Thanks again. Sherri

Eagle and griffin are called crests. They are heraldic symbols of the owner's family. In this case they might represent the families of a husband and a wife. Originally crests were worn by knights in tournaments on top of a helmet.
