ZIENA SPLENDOR OF THE INDIAN COURTS EXHIBITION
Until 14th April 2024
This exhibition aims to stimulate the interest and appreciation of the rich culture of the Indian Subcontinent, and demonstrate how the synthesis of Islamic and Indian art prompted Indian artists to adjust to new influences and how it stimulated their creativity.
Even single objects can convey an important story of such connections, as well as a sense of the extraordinary dynamism which has characterized this civilization since its very beginning. The rich variety of art objects presented here holds the potential of gratification for art lovers, as well as opening wide a window on India’s artistic achievements, which are among its greatest legacies.
The objects in this exhibition come from the collection of Sheikh Nasser and Sheikha Hussa al-Sabah of Kuwait. Formed between the mid-1970s and the present, it is one of the most distinguished collections of Ancient and Islamic art in the world. The collection has been on long-term loan to the State of Kuwait, where it opened as Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah in 1983, occupying one of the four buildings of the National Museum Complex.
Opening hours: Check website.
Admission: 10.00AED
