Re: fork
Hello
Your fork in the Uniplat pattern was made in Paris between 1798-1809. For a complete table of French hallmarks see:
https://www.925-1000.com/Ffrench_marks.html
The maker was A. Verneuil, flatware maker, wife of Pierre Défontaine, working at 2 rue des Trois-Canettes. She registered her mark initials ADV, symbol a boar’s head (une tête de sanglier) on 30 April 1807. No end date is given.
See Arminjon v. I, no. 00140, p. 57.
Pierre Défontaine worked at the same address and used the same symbol as his wife. It is unclear why his wife marked separately.
See Arminjon, vol. I, no. 02906, p. 288.
Arminjon tells us that A. Verneuil probably also marked as AD, Louise-Adelaïde-Marie Defontaine, registered 1 September 1820, erased 22 August 1822.
See Arminjon, vol. 1, no. 00105, p. 54.
Regards.
