Mappin & Webb spoon - help with identification

Post by Tigger2024 »

Help please

My aunt has given my daughter what she calls 'a silver spoon'

It's stamped on the flat of the handle with the following 5 stamps
A1 (in an oval)
Mappin
&
Webb
Q (9in a crest)

All we can find is that it's part of the Fiddle Pattern but my daughter would like to know more if possible

Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

There is not too much more to add. This Fiddle pattern spoon by Mappin & Webb is silver-plated, the 'A1' being the indicator of their best quality.

The 'Q' mark would indicate the year of manufacture, but Mappin & Webb's date code system has yet, to my knowledge, been cracked.
