Silver knife, Amsterdam, Coutrier?

Post by Vantlicht »

This silver knife handle is marked with the citymark of Amsterdam and I think the makersmark of Coutrier.
But I am not sure. Curious for your opinion.

The scallop maker's mark could be for Cornelis Coutrier, registered in Amsterdam 1730-1749. He used three types of scallop marks

Born in 1702, Protestant, son of Hendrik Coutrier silk manufacturer and Margrita van Bergen, registered in 1730, married in 1733 to Magdalena Overbeek, died in 1749. specialist in cast teaspoons and jam forks; he also made miniatures.
Objects marked with a master mark and with Amsterdam town mark, without year letter were probably made between circa 1710 and 1734.
