Silver Watch Hallmarks

Post by jon6398 »

I would like some help in identifying the hallmarks. It has been suggested to me that the "GS" may be a makers mark for "George Smith". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jon

The mark with sort of a horseshoe in it is a London import mark used since 1906. The London date letter "T" looks like 1914 to me.
I believe the GS mark was used by the British importer George Stockwell. He was in business at least as early as 1907.

Many thanks for your help. The watch is currently not working. Knowing about its history will make restoring it more enjoyable.
