Are "Import Marks" really "Export Marks"

Post by SwissSilverBuff »

Hello,

I am a bit confused about so called "Import Marks".

It would seem logical that the Hallmark and the Import mark would be from two different countries but when people write in this forum about import marks they appear to be saying that they are stamped in the country of origin.

If this is true shouldn't they be called "Export Marks"?

Could someone please set us all straight on how and why export marks were used?

Thanks

Hello,
Import marks are stamped in the receiving country.
Export marks are stamped in the country of origin.
