Hi
First visit so hope I am doing this right.
I am trying to trace the maker's mark on a small hatpin. The pin itself is about 3 inches long, on top is a design of a musical Clef about 1 inch long. The Clef is stamped Sterling with the maker's mark C.H in a cartouche. The dot between the C and the H is actually halfway up the letters - not at the bottom as shown here.
I have checked books and websites but can find nothing.
Many thanks for any help.
Pam

Hi Pam,
The Charles Horner company registered a variety of different marks throughout its history including several with a centre pellet. I just counted 17 different styles of the CH mark (not including the well known intertwined trademark) in Maurice H. Ridgway and Philip T. Priestley, The Compendium of Chester Gold & Silver Marks 1570 to 1962 (Woodbridge: The Antique Collectors’ Club, 2004).
