Augsburg silver marking?

Post by srvrip1 »

Hi,
Need help with following marking: Pomegrante with capitol "B" underneath both within oval-I think it's Augsburg. Makers mark is "Busch". Any help regarding date ("B") of manufacture and silversmith would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

Hi,
If the hallmark outline is an oval, then it is either Augsburg 1736 or Augsburg 1816. If the capital B is not contained inside an "U", then it is 1816, and 1736 otherwise.
Sorry, but for what concerns the maker I cannot help.
Regards,
Dinio

Hello, Seling documents more than a dozen goldsmiths in Augsburg called Busch. Not counting German retailers, who might have punchend their mark beside the Augsburg mark. A pic might tell more.... Best wishes, Bahner

" Busch" in Augsburg, dated 1816

OK it definitely is 1816 Augburg marking. Here is more info on marking: "BUSCH" (all capitols and impressed in a rectangle). Does anybody which Busch was working in Augburg at the time?
Thanx, Steve
