Guessing it's either a julep cup or a jigger, that's all I've ever seen with that mark. Believe the mark belongs to a Lexington, KY jeweler and would be mid 20th century rather than 19th. They were sometimes used as presentation gifts in the horse breeding community, run across several engraved with names, events, and/or dates from the 1950s-60s.

Benjamin N Trees, jeweler, is listed in the 1937 at 222 E Main, Lex, Ky Polk Directory.Listed as Lexington Gold refining Co in 1941 to '47 at the same address. There is a record of a border crossing from Canada with this gentleman's name that may fit and explain his abscence from earlier directories and etc.
